Temple Festival Tips & Do’s & Don’ts
Temple jatres are sacred spaces. Here’s how to prepare respectfully — from what to wear to when to arrive, how to behave, and what to avoid.
👘 Dress Code
Sarees, dhotis, kurtas, and modest Indian wear are ideal. Avoid tight outfits, sleeveless tops, shorts, or flashy accessories.
🙏 Behavior
Respect lines, elders, and silence zones. Avoid shouting, selfies near deities, or blocking paths during pradakshina.
📷 Photography
Some temples allow photos outside only. Sanctums, homa spaces, and deepa arati areas often prohibit all cameras.
🎒 What to Carry
Water bottle, towel, prasadam plate, offerings (like coconut/flowers), cash for sevas, and basic ID proof.
👨👩👧 For Families
Travel early, pack light snacks, carry shade, and avoid midday crowd rush. Use dharmashalas with good reviews.
